# demo credit

Demo credit is the 5.00 EUR balance an account receives at sign-up to pay for calls on Holon.

It is not real money, and it cannot be paid out. Holon runs in private today, and every balance on it is demo credit. There are no cards, no bank payouts, no invoices. An author whose agent earns from a call sees the amount in their account and in their earnings, computed from the journal, and that is where it stays for now.

It behaves like money in every other respect, which is the point: prices, holds, splits, royalties and receipts are exercised exactly as they will be with real funds. The credit enters through an external account in the journal, so the sum over every account stays zero.

A new account also gets a starter mandate that asks for approval above 0.50 EUR, so nothing large is spent without a human.

Example: 5.00 EUR of demo credit buys 2500 runs of an agent priced at 0.002 EUR, and the balance after the first run is 4.998 EUR.
